De missie van BJJ in Amersfoort is om de weerbaarheid en vitaliteit van jong en oud te verbeteren. Dit doen wij door middel van Jiu Jitsu lessen die voor iedereen toegankelijk zijn. Jiu Jitsu lessen in een vriendelijke omgeving.

Braziliaans Jiu Jitsu (Gracie Jiu Jitsu) is een aangepaste versie van het Japanse Jiu Jitsu en Judo. Waar Judo en Japanse Jiu Jitsu stoppen na een worp, gaat het Braziliaans Jiu Jitsu verder. De technieken zijn niet gebaseerd op kracht en snelheid, maar op hefboomwerkingen. Een hefboomwerking houdt in dat je met een kleine beweging een groot object kunt verplaatsen. Het doel is om in een positie te komen waarin je ervoor zorgt dat jij je tegenstander onder controle hebt. De technieken die hier geleerd worden, zijn gebaseerd op het intellect en niet op brute kracht van de persoon. Iedereen heeft profijt van deze technieken. Dit maakt het een zeer geschikt systeem van zelfverdediging voor mannen vrouwen en zelfs kinderen.

It's a shame I don't visit Holland more often!

So for everyone who's interested in trying BJJ, but finds it a bit scary, at Amersfoort BJJ you'll be welcomed with open arms where they take good care of you.
No signs of aggression, the people are kind, respectful and really go there for their own fitness and personal development. The energy is uplifting and the training intense. Just know you'll be sweating like crazy within a few minutes, so bring a towel or two!

There is a lot of attention on the fundamentals and good technique which is evident by the fact that I get consistently beaten during sparring! But everybody is very friendly and kind. There is a positive atmosphere! Definitely would recommend to anyone wanting to lear GJJ/BJJ!
