About Eetcafé Sint Jan
Het pand Jansplein 2 heeft jarenlang dienst gedaan als woning annex winkel. Voor zover in de gemeentelijke archieven te achterhalen valt, is hier sinds 1913 een café gevestigd. De heer C.F. Zonnenberg werd in mei van dat jaar een horecavergunning verleend. Hij startte er toen een café dat hij met zijn achternaam tooide. Sinds het begin van de zeventiger jaren van vorige eeuw gaat het café door het leven als Sint Jan.
Tot halverwege de jaren tachtig was Sint Jan vooral een druk bezocht bruin café. Onder het bewind van de toenmalige eigenaar werd vanaf dat moment met enige voorzichtigheid een menukaart met kleine gerechten gepresenteerd. Het donkerbruine interieur werd toen bovendien ingewisseld voor een eigentijdse en bijzonder warme ambiance, een sfeer die tot op de dag van vandaag met ziel en zaligheid gekoesterd wordt.
Vanaf het moment dat John en Ingrid Pricken het bedrijf in november ’97 overnamen, kreeg Sint Jan geleidelijk aan zijn huidige status: een bloeiend eetcafé waar gezelligheid hoogtij viert en waar niet alleen wordt gegeten, maar ook nog steeds naar hartenlust geborreld.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Cozy place, friendly staff, nice location. Nice classic style pub/cafe. Staff was friendly and helpful, have a nice selection of beer on tap and a good food menu. Outdoor and indoor seating available, outside seating area is right next to Saint Jan Church in a pretty square. Prices are reasonable.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very discussed... today was a very busy day in arnehm and the sun was shining. Me and my partner looked around for a table for about 15 minutes. After seeing a couple paying and getting ready to leave we walked over to the table to take a seat once the occupants had gone. As we where sitting down the server told us she would not let us sit there because it might make other people angry who are also waiting for a table. She then waived another couple over and gave them the table ( probably friends of the waiter I'm guessing). Absolutely discussed and to be honest it spoilt the afternoon as I felt discriminated against. I will never go back to Sint Jan because of this.

Everyone there orders steaks and burgers but their less popular dishes are amazing!
The goats cheese salad and the fried mussels were outstanding and definitely recommend.
The apple cider is really good too! Can't go wrong in this place for drink, food and people watching!
