★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Als je een gezellige avond hebt en het regent, ga vooral niet hierheen. De erfgenaam van het ooit zo mooie El en Ben Cafe, stuurt je zonder enige goede reden de kroeg uit. Zo ben je elke week aan het genieten van een leuke avond met de lekkerste bitterballen van Haarlem, en zo word je de toegang geweigerd. Michel, je bent een topper! We hebben de laatste weken genoten. Jouw vrouw/compagnon, leer haar eens wat manieren op het gastvrije vlak. Hier, door haar, gaat jullie tent kapot (en met mij heel veel Haarlemmers die er zo over denken en jullie tent mijden).

 If you're having a nice evening and it's raining, don't go here. The heir to the once beautiful El and Ben Cafe sends you out of the pub for no good reason. For example, you are enjoying a nice evening with the tastiest bitterballen in Haarlem every week, and you are refused entry. Michael, you are the best! We have enjoyed the last few weeks. Your wife/partner, teach her some hospitality manners. Here, because of her, your tent will be destroyed (and with me a lot of Haarlemmers who think so and avoid your tent).

It's cozy like a living room and Michel and Marieke are like your auntie and uncle.
This is THE place to go if you want an experience of the real Dutch hospitality.
They serve with the graciousness of a queen and make you feel like home!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A wonderful little gem: an authentic so-called brown bar that allows you to travel back in time. Immaculately clean and tidy, with a wonderfully detailed and illuminated model of the whole place on display in the corner. Lovely owner who was happy to take the time to talk about the place. We also spotted a ? in the corner and felt included. It was a great find. Thanks so much.
