★ ★ ★ ★ ★ When you are in Netherlands, why don't you visit what the country is famous for? The array of historic windmills here in Zaanse Schans is a bit touristic, but we are tourists anyway! It is a pleasure to stroll the area viewing the impressive lineup of windmills, each of them with its own character.
As it is often the case in this country, this place can be accessed easily by train from Amsterdam Centraal Station, or even better, on a nice bike ride from Amsterdam!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Took a train ride from Amsterdam. Got off the closest station and had a nice casual walk to the wind mill area.
Passed a lovely, quaint little town with only water way access. No roads, only canals... took my time to enjoy the area and sketch some wind mills.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice landscape for a walk or a ride; beautiful rendering of the late Dutch country side. Went there from Amsterdam with the train (didn't pay the money for a trip) which is simple. Had a very nice time with family. Children will love it there.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A calm place to take a walk with your family, surrounded by typical dutch windmills and cottages. But if you would visit on Sunday, the museum will be closed.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Don't really know which is which, but the Windmills are all very beautiful. They are the national symbols of Netherlands along with Tulips. Located only around 20 kms from Amsterdam, Zaanse Schans region is a very popular tourist destination for Viewing the iconic Windmills. "Unique in its kind", proclaimed by Napoleon 210 years ago, this over 250 years old Windmills Park is an Open-air Museum nowadays. For me, it is like if you haven't seen Windmills, then you haven't been in Netherlands. So, it is surely and highly recommended by me. Several photos from my visit.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Place is very color full and classic dutch place. As name justify world of windmills it’s too windy, if you are going to visit there wear full clothes. You will going to enjoy the every view of windmills and classis dutch homes.
