★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Had a very nice evening at restaurant Apenzoon. Great service, amazing food and a very nice host. We went for the gourmet experience, which turned out to be an excellent choice. The host is a bit eccentric, he puts a lot of cheese and pasta salad on the gourmet. He likes to think out of the box when it comes to food, which really pays off. He also doesn't care whether his couch gets soaked in gourmet fat or not, he just wants his guests to enjoy their time to the fullest. Lastly, he has a great sense of humour and doesn't mind watching Johan Derksen say dumb stuff all evening while enjoying a beer together after dinner.
However, you shouldn't pay too much attention to the dubious pot in his fridge. Legend says he puts innocent children in there, which might get him into trouble with law soon. Hence I'm happy I went to restaurant Apenzoon before it got permanently closed.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Sadly this old classic has closed due to the corona pandemic; I was able to reserve a spot on their last day of opening of this establishment that has sadly never had a Michelin star it deserved.
I had the egg and white beans boneless pizza dish, which was crunchy, yummy goodness! I enjoyed every bite! The coffee was also very good. I had a flat white. The staff were lovely, and provided me with an English menu - very accommodating!
