★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Iedereen die in Houten woont (en ieder die in archeologie is geïnteresseerd), zou dit (kleine) museum eens moeten bezoeken om een beeld te krijgen van de verleden tijd: de opgravingen die in Houten-Zuid / Castellum zijn gedaan, worden hier voorzover de ruimte het toelaat getoond in de tentoonstelling 'Van ijzertijd tot nieuwbouwwijk'. In de vitrines aardewerk, sieraden, gereedschappen, en verder verschillende objecten uit de Romeinse tijd. De complete boomstamkano uit de Midden Ijzertijd die in 2010 werd gevonden staat nog voor onderzoek en conservering in depot bij de Rijksdienst Cultureel Erfgoed in Lelystad. Hoe mooi zou het zijn als daar een eigen royale plek voor zou worden gevonden, samen met de uit dezelfde tijd daterend visfuik, die nu nog in het gemeentehuis staat! Verder aandacht voor de vorming van het landschap van Houten: alles is met aandacht en liefde gedaan. Bijzonder zijn de fraaie tekeningen van Peter Koch die die veranderingen laten zien. De vrijwilligers van de Archeologische Werkgroep 'Leen de Keijzer' vertellen je graag meer. Enige puntje zijn de beperkte openingstijden. Maar goed: open tot eind februari 2020.
Anyone who lives in Houten (and anyone who is interested in archeology) should visit this (small) museum to get an impression of the past: the excavations made in Houten-Zuid / Castellum are, where the space allows shown in the exhibition 'From the Iron Age to the New Building District'. In the showcases pottery, jewelry, tools, and further various objects from Roman times. The complete tree canoe from the Middle Iron Age that was found in 2010 is still for research and conservation at the National Cultural Heritage Agency in Lelystad. How nice would it be if a spacious place of their own were found, together with the fish trap dating from the same time, which is still in the town hall today! Further attention to the formation of the landscape of Houten: everything is done with attention and love. The beautiful drawings by Peter Koch show the changes. The volunteers of the Archaeological Workgroup 'Leen de Keijzer' are happy to tell you more. The only point is the limited opening hours. Anyway: open until the end of February 2020.

En als toegift kregen onze dochters een 16de eeuwse Delfts blauw scherf en een ijzertijd scherf mee.
Zeer leuke ervaring!
We were welcomed politely and given an enthusiastic tour, in which our daughters aged 5 and 9 were actively involved!
And as an encore, our daughters received a 16th century Delft Blue shard and an Iron Age shard.
