De balletschool werd in 1997 als Balletschool Ulgersmaborg opgericht door Tineke Snijder. Door de verhuizing uit de wijk Ulgersmaborg naar een eigen onderkomen is de naam sinds 2020 balletschool BattU. 
Battu is een term uit het klassiek ballet.
De lessen worden gegeven door Cindy en Tineke Snijder, Cindy heeft zich na haar klassieke opleiding vooral toegelegd op de meer eigentijdse dansen. Tineke bezocht na haar klassieke opleiding de Scapino dansacademie om zich te specialiseren in jazzballet en choreografie en beschikt over meer dan 40 jaar ervaring in lesgeven bij verschillende balletscholen. De lessen moderne dans worden gegeven door Pim Steemers. De lessen urban, streetdance en commercial worden gegeven door Odette Koster. De kleuterlessen worden gegeven door Sarina Abrahams en voor de yoga en pilates lessen is Angie Timmer ons team komen versterken
