β β β β β A highlight of our trip to holland. β¬14 entry was well worth it. We had a free tour in English and it was brilliant. We loved seeing the blacksmiths and carpenters working, there were young people busy doing all sorts of things the entire time which was great to see. On the Batavia we would walk through the entire reconstruction, opening doors and going below deck. We spent hours after researching the history of VOC. Absolutely recommend this to everyone!

β β β β β A nice antique ship, but the one located in Amsterdam is more complete and interesting.

β β β β β Our visit here was fun. We came on a weekday and for the first half hour, we were alone. We spent a good hour and fifteen minutes here. There are a couple of doors, as well as the third deck that are difficult to exit and enter through, but if you're willing to get on your hands and knees, it's worth (practically) crawling through them, plus come on you're here to see what ship life was like after all. Your ticket is also good for the shipyard and museum. We didn't visit the museum, but did visit the shipyard. It was interesting to see them working on parts and hand carving a wooden boat/ship.

β β β β β You should definitely take the free tour. Quite amazing place, which covers all aspects of ancient ship building; wood carving, rope making, sail making, blacksmith etc. There is a complete replica out the Batavia, a partial replica of the seven provinces, a partial scale replica of the seven provinces ( with minute details) and more.
Great place for children, who can try their hand at iron working etc The tour might be too long to keep young children interested though
If your spouse does not like it, send him or her shopping in the fashion outlet next door.

β β β β β Beautifully crafted ship that is a copy of the real Batavia from the 1600s. You can get a guided tour over the yard and the ship or you can look around on your own accord. Ticket also includes the neighbouring museum. The ship is waning and will be end of live within 10 years regrettably.

β β β β β This is one of the places to visit if you like history, sea, old ships, outdoor and experience. You can use a museum ticket and visit 3 parts: the ship Batavia, the outdoir museum and the indoor museum. All different places close together. Take your time 3 to 4 hours if you are fast. There is as also an big fashion outlet nearby.

β β β β β Amazing ship - well worth a visit! It's included in the price of the museum across the road. You can explore the ship and get a true feeling for what life on a ship must have been like.
There are plenty of kids about but I would say not for the very young and the less mobile. Access is via stairs and the ship has ropes, low ceilings and plenty of things in the way.

β β β β β This was an amazing day out. The ship is part of the "museum" complex and is quite nice! This boat is a replica of the one that sailed to New Zealand, but never made it to her destination as it ran ashore. There are descriptions about the story as well as the mutiny that ensued after.
This ship is built almost as a perfect replica form historical archives. It is moored next to a maintenance shipyard that repairs this one and other old/historical ships. You can even see how blacksmithing was so important for it as well as rope making.
This is definitely worth a visit, even with your little ones. Just bring some comfortable footwear as you will be doing a fair bit of walking.
