Worst experience ever! The guards treat you like a criminal, the staff is even worse and to top it all every employee you ask gives you a different answer to the same question. This institution is a disgrace for 21st century tax authority.

I have been worked in 5 countries ... NL is one of the worst tax authority so far. Slow and not productive at all. Tax refund can take up to 3 years ^_^ and they only entertain hard copy mail ... What a joke.

We recently started a business in The Netherlands and we are disgusted by the service of the belastingdienst. We registered with KVK in 2019 to begin our company on 1st January 2020 at which point we should receive our BTW nummer. 2 weeks later we still did not receive the BTW nummer and when we called them they said they had another start date for us but would not tell us the start date they had in the system. They said we would receive the BTW number maybe tomorrow or in 10 days time at which point we would have to call back to change the start date as she refused to update the system directly. We have missed more than 2 weeks sales from our company due to the belastingdienst terrible service.

I have been mocked for not being able to speak dutch properly. The worker pretended to not speak English at the beginning. Even though I'm trying to learn and i gave it a shot with my bellow average Dutch knowledge, she just laughed and said welcome to the Netherlands and then proceeded to speak fluent English.

Positive : tax employee was nice and helpful - he speaks English ( it’s not weird in The Netherlands) Negative : Security guy was rude. Bad first impression from this place - now I understand why people gave 1 to this place. First impression is important- if their client are important for them, they need to listen their clients reviews and improve those negative ? which is helpful( specially for government related offices)

I have lived in the Netherlands for four years and I never before had to pay water, street cleaning or whatsoever taxes (my rent contract was inclusive all these costs, or so I believed). Last year, November 2020 I received a letter from this Kantoor, and I forwarded it to my landlord, thinking it was just another electricity bill or something he had to pay. Bills were always on my name, since I was the first one renting that accommodation (although it was just a room and I shared the apartment with 2 others). So, even though he paid them (bills from the belastingdienst), it was usual for me to receive such letters. The letter I received in November, to me seemed like just another bill from the house that I had to forward to him. It stated it was cost for cleaning the water of the house I lived in, or something like that. So I sent him the letter and he said he’d take care of it, although he ignored it. Yesterday -almost a year after moving out of that place and receiving that letter- I received a new letter claiming and warning me to pay 445€ to them WITHIN TWO DAYS, or they would enter in my property (another student room) and take my belongings. This was quite a shocking experience. The lack of communication, and clarification regarding the origin and universality of this tax, and the harassing language. I didn’t know I had to pay this tax as a citizen, since I never before had to pay a bill like that (it was included in my contract). I don’t wish this experience to anyone, particularly those most vulnerable in society (students, internationals, jobless or disabled ones). Receiving random letters claiming such amounts of money is not a joke, and causes a lot of harm.
