About Bert Kwakkel Gitaarbouw
The start of Bert Kwakkel's life in 1954 was fairly uncommon. He became the 50.000th inhabitant of Deventer (The Netherlands). That meant a big celebration for the city. Bert Kwakkel was on television the first day of his life.
The guitar became a popular instrument in the Kwakkel-family. Because Bert's four brothers learnt to play the guitar more easily, he decided to build his first guitar (1971). Eight years later he ended his job as a draughtsman, to become a full-time guitarmaker.
Bert Kwakkel developed his own style of constructing, finishing and last but not least of sound. His unceasing urge to improve his instruments, resulted in a unique bracing-system. This construction offers the guitarist a comfortable guitar with a very powerful and balanced tone.
