A nice bike ride through Haarlem made with enthusiastic guide Benjamin. Had a nice contact in advance by email, in which they thought about parking options and so on. Recommended!

β β β β β Echt een aanrader. Een erg leuke tocht gehad langs mooie plekjes in Haarlem. Onze gids Guido was erg aardig en wist heel veel te vertellen over de bezienswaardigheden.
Really recommended. Had a very nice trip along beautiful places in Haarlem. Our guide Guido was very nice and knew a lot about the sights.

β β β β β I took advantage of the long late June days and rented a bike for 24 hours, which was a bargain. 10 euros for 3.5 hours; 15 euros for 24 hours! I took off at 11 am from the downtown Haarlem bike shop and biked to the North Sea beach towns. I biked back taking detours through the national seashore park and two other national parks. At one point I learned that bikes need to go in the bike lane on the correct side of the street β I was going the wrong way with a mob of rush-hour bikes headed toward me! Beware.
It was definitely too much to try, but then I biked to Zaanse Schans, the town known for its windmills. It even involved taking a free ferry boat across the Zaans river! I dragged back into my hotel at 8:30 pm.
The only way I did this was by mapping my route on Google maps before I left a wifi area and bringing my phone charger.
