My insurance pays just half of the actual costs of surgery, and nothing for traveling and staying in Cottbus. I had some bad luck with (not uncommon) side effects. Back in the Netherlands I could get in touch with dr. Koch very easily, however, and he responded swiftly and reassuring. The whole experience was both great and surreal to me. I had some minor surgery in the past, but never had full anesthesia before. Not so much a nasty, but strangely disturbing experience. Within 4 weeks after the surgery I started some exercises: first with weights for arms and hands only. This week cycling some kilometers at a little over 20 km/hour. Maybe I could have started that a little sooner. After cycling I got more 'feedback' from knees –probably due to the lack of training in the 8 months before the surgery. Yes definitely SARS_CoV_2-related.

I have applied for reimbursement of the costs from the Health Service Executive in Ireland and am awaiting their processing of my claim. The recommended hotel (Sorat) was great too. Nahom helped me first. I sent all my previous exams reports and could talk to Dr. Koch via Zoom a few days after. Dr. Koch patiently answered all my questions and I felt I was really listened to. I really appreciated the honesty of Dr. Koch who didn't recommend surgery for my particular case and gave me some good advice. The same day Nahom sent me a protocol of exercises to do at home. Top-notch professionals.

I live in Ireland, I had an inguinal hernia for over 2 years but I was reluctant to get surgery because the mesh’s horror story I heard. At the end, I found out about BioHernia when I was looking for a non-mesh surgery and I’m so glad I found them even if I was a bit sceptical at the beginning. The service from BioHernia was top, well organised even during COVID, in Ireland with HSE the surgery cost is covered. BioHernia put you in relation with the Doctor of your choice and can organise everything, I chose Dr. Koch in Germany as I read really good reviews about him and I was right, the result is amazing, Dr. Koch checked daily on me in the hotel following the surgery, the scar is tiny and the pain was low to moderate. Now after 4 weeks post-op I have zero pain and I can again carry things around, this is a life changer. Hopefully I won’t have any hernia again on the other side but if I do, I’ll re-use their service straightway, no more waiting! If you have one, get it done, don’t wait, all the best!

I chose Dr. Andreas KOCH after watching his conversation on Herniatalk with Dr Shirin Towfigh. I was not wrong in my choice. My operation took place on 11th August 2021. Due to hospital shutdown during the pandemic, my hernia had been left untreated for months, it had got a lot worse and was giving me a lot of pain. Also I wanted a shouldice repair without mesh and very few surgeons are competent enough to carry out this procedure. Dr Koch speaks very good English, and is most professional. A surgeon who visits you at the hotel to check up on you after the operation! Unheard of. The staff at the Sorat Hotel where the patients are staying are very nice and most helpful. The fee for the operation is more than reasonable although this was not my deciding factor. I chose Dr Koch for his competence and reputation. I highly recommend him to anyone who needs a hernia operation. Once again I want to thank Dr Koch, his lovely medical team and Nahom at Biohernia for the whole experience and its smooth process from start to finish! G	George L. on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I had an inguinal hernia surgery in Cottbus last September. At first I was reluctant to go to Germany for a surgery. (I live in the UK.) But after reading all the horror stories of people who suffered with the mesh I decided to have the surgery in Cottbus. Dr Koch operated on me and I'm very pleased with the result. For three days after the surgery he came at the hotel and checked on me. Right after the operation I felt some pain but that was minimal. It has now been more than three months after the surgery and I'm very well and pleased that made the decision to be operated by Dr Koch. Nahom organized everything very well. The transport from hotel to airport was excellent. The stay at the Sorat hotel was superb. Very good room, and super breakfast. There are so many restaurants nearby that you don't know which one to choose. I'm also very pleased with the treatment I received from the nurses at the clinic. They were very helpful and made me feel comfortable. Some say that hernia might reappear. If it does I will go back to Cottbus, with no hesitation.
