About Brasserie Rita
RITA VAN CASCIA onderging de ontberingen van een bruut huwelijk, voordat zij haar leven kon toewijden aan het lijden van Jezus Christus. In plaats van zich te verzetten tegen de gruwelijkheden van haar echtgenoot, bad ze voor zijn zielenheil. En uiteindelijk bad ze zelfs voor de ziel van de moordenaar van haar man. Ten koste van haar twee zoons die bloedwraak hadden gezworen. Voordat zij hun snode plannen konden uitvoeren, stierven ze.
Niets stond Rita daarna meer in de weg om toe te treden tot het klooster. Nou niets… Keer op keer werd ze geweigerd vanwege haar huwelijk. Uiteindelijk wist ze toe te treden tot de augustinessen van het Sint-Maria Magdelenaklooster. De devotie van Rita werd legendarisch. Een doorn uit de doornenkroon van Christus, verwondde haar voorhoofd tijdens een gebed. Een wond die nooit zou helen. Vlak voordat ze stierf vroeg ze iemand een roos voor haar te plukken. Hoewel het winter was, vond deze een roos en bracht die aan Rita waarna ze stierf. Bij haar overlijden drapeerden bijen een wit laken over haar lichaam.

β β β β β Hot coco was lukewarm, stew was lukewarm, very greasy pieces of meat in stew. My veggie dish was ok. Staff seemed to forget about us, never offered a 2nd round of drinks. Waiter came way too close during serving, for Covid times. In short: terrible service, mediocre food, at best. Avoid.

β β β β β Great food, terrible staff. It took them almost 15 minutes to get us a menu after we were seated. There were about 3 waiters (excluding kitchen staff who would bring over the food) for about 5 occupied tables.
Both the lobster and the risotto were beautifully presented and very tasty. When I asked about the fries that were supposed to come with my lobster, the waiter assured me the dish only came with a small side salad, though he said I could order extra fries. As I was already halfway through my lobster at this point, I figured it wasn't really worth it anymore.
With the 1/2 lobster being rather modest in size already, it was a very small meal but I assumed I must have misread the part about the fries. When we got another look at the menu for dessert, however, I saw that the fries were indeed mentioned with the lobster on the menu, but the point seemed rather moot by that time.
We really had to work hard to get the staff's attention to ask them about the fries, order extra drinks, ask for the dessert menu, etc. This was a dinner for our one year wedding anniversary so we were a little disappointed.
That being said, the restaurant looked beautiful and the food was excellent. I hope they provide the wait staff with some additional training to get this place up and running because it has great potential.

β β β β β Great potential, inspiring decorations, waiting for a new chef, staff is extremely sweet, but not yet full #teamwork.
Were here end of February 2020, and the brasserie were having their Carnaval menu. But boy: this looks promising. With fresh and local produce, fish, vegetarian, pork belly and lobster. The menu and kitchen has been setup by chef Van Groeninge, a Michelin star chef now working as an advisor for the culinary owner of this kitchen.
The menu looks great, but the chef really needs to put up his game: we had duck chest, but it was too far done and somewhat dry, and the crispy pork belly was not crispy and wasn't cooked long enough to render the fat. And although the staff was very friendly; our order was forgotten twice and I had to ask for their attention more then once to come up to our table.
So that is why 3 stars: is ok but can be awesome (menu and friendly staff), but some work to be done there.

It can be a bit busy because of groups/events but the place is big enough to not be bothered by it .
