★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Our visit at the Cafe in the City left us only with pure joy and satisfaction.
The place itself looks very cool and trendy already from the outside, but it is nothing compared to the content you get here.
A very sophisticated Japanese based fusion kitchen offering a wide and artfully compiled selection of small to larger portions of different meals made of the best quality ingredients.
We tasted all sections of the menu and were delighted with what we were served.
Cocktails and the wine selection are among the bests in town.
As for service: it is quite rare in this city especially around Leidseplein, but we experienced a super friendly and attentive service by the lovely young, but well trained staff.
You can not miss the notion that how well managed the restaurant is / you can see the ever attentive Lady manager all over the place/.
So, if you want something different, less touristic and more authentic, give this place a try.
You have to bear in mind that this is not a cheap touristic venue with fixed price 10 EUR set menus, so in order to avoid disappointment and an unfair bad review given to the place you better check out their website and decide if this place is for you or not.
If it is you`ll have an exciting and memorable dining experience and the feeling of satisfaction which remains with you long after you leave the place.
If not you can just find dozens of touristic places all around the Square.
We were proved right: this place was definitely for us.
We`ll return.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you go in one of the days they don't have crazy deals, it is quiet and better service exists. However if you end up going in one of these busy days, especially a Monday, you are destined to bad service and late arriving food.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A beautiful trendy place. Met some friends over some drinks. We also ordered a couple of dishes to share.
Staff were very friendly.
The atmosphere is great, and the decor is beautiful and trendy.
Definitely visiting again when in Amsterdam.

Yes, we were lost tourists and asked questions as if we could order coffee (cafés in netherlands seem to have other definition than café in sweden) or where we should pay (at table/cash) but got a nonchalant ingnorant attitude back. When they said we could pay at the table, we asked for bill. They came with bill, but never for any charging moment. We wanted change back, but never got any. So rest became like forced tip. Such shame for nice place. Oh, and that thick foamed bland thingy in wine glass? That is not what I call latte.

Very delicious . Interior is good. Terrace table is also good...
The staffs are very kind.
All was perfect.. Except one thing that there is an unknown food in the the receipt, I didn't order. Do check it perfectly... I think it was a staff's mistake, not intention.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Had the Salmon Poke Bowl, the pancakes and tried the omlett. All dishes were well made with love to detail, coffee is good too. Staff friendly and professional prices absolutely realistic given quality and location. Place is pretty too. For light lunch much recommended.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Took 15 minutes for someone to say hello and offer a table. When I asked for one, the waiter had lots of attitude. We had to wait for 1 hour for 2 deserts without much smile. 1 guy was ok but seriously, in 2021, for such prices, you can expect better - much better.
