Café Van Zuylen ademt historie. Niet alleen vanwege de ligging in het historische centrum van Amsterdam… ook het interieur met de klassieke toog en de antieke wenteltrap onderstreept de geschiedenis van ons café. Bij ons kun je even rustig landen, gezellig vrienden ontmoeten en eindeloos mensen kijken.
Ons grote en zonnige terras ligt op de karakteristieke boogbrug over het Singel. Vanaf 1649 stond de Jan Roodenpoortstoren op deze brug, als onderdeel van de stadsmuur van Amsterdam. De kerkers onder het brughoofd bestaan nog steeds, hier werden de gevangenen van Amsterdam opgesloten. Toen de toren in 1829 werd afgebroken, bleef de breedste brug van Amsterdam over. En laat ons terras nou net op die brug gevestigd zijn…

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We visited this cafe 2 times while we were on holidays in Amsterdam ??, the place is an old pub and the food is great, the bartenders are absolutely lovely guys, but needless to say our favorite part was the cat (called fry? Freight?)
We’ll go back for sure next time we’re around Amsterdam. ❤️
