Poppe ontmoet tijdens de eerste concept ontwikkeling van het boek “Uit beton Gegoten” over de Typ P groepsschuilplaatsen langs de Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie, gepubliceerd door Uitgeverij Matrijs in juni 2021. Hij was geïnspireerd door dit project en bereid de kaarten hiervoor te ontwerpen. Het hele project heeft 11 jaar geduurd tot publicatie en was complex en uitdagend. De koers moest steeds weer worden bijgesteld naarmate nieuwe informatie binnenkwam. Uiteindelijk is hier een groep kaarten uit voort gekomen met een eigentijdse uitstraling die alle relevante informatie makkelijk toegankelijk maakt voor het algemene publiek. Daarbij moest hij steeds bijsturen en zijn ontwerpen herzien. Voor velen zou dit een te grote uitdaging zijn, maar door zijn kennis van - en zijn liefde voor - het vak bracht hij de kaarten tot een niveau die het hele boek een transparantie geven, iets dat bij geschiedenisboeken nogal eens tekortschiet. Poppe met during the first concept development of the book “Uit beton Gegoten” about the Typ P group shelters along the Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie, published by Uitgeverij Matrijs in June 2021. He was inspired by this project and prepared to design the maps for it. The entire project took 11 years to publish and was complex and challenging. The course had to be adjusted again and again as new information came in. Ultimately, this resulted in a group of cards with a contemporary look that makes all relevant information easily accessible to the general public. In doing so, he had to constantly adjust and revise his designs. For many this would be too much of a challenge, but through his knowledge of - and his love for - the trade he brought the cards to a level that gives the whole book a transparency, something that often falls short in history books.
