About Casper de Jong

Casper de Jong is an interactive designer in the field of Art and Technology. In the last years he designed interactive installations and exhibitions. In his art he finds ways to attract participants to the installation and trigger them to think about social and technological subjects. In his interactive exhibition design he triggers people to experience art, design and knowledge on a new level.

He beliefs in the human as a playing creature. He tries to make people active again, to play and to open their imagination. Everyone is a creator, sometimes you just have to get it out.

Casper’s graduation work ‘The Factory of the Future’ (2017) was nominated for the ‘Gemeente Utrecht prijs’(Utrecht municipality price, where the 5 best projects from every graduating art student were chosen) and right after designed and curated an exhibition for the Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven. In the beginning of 2018 the exhibition ‘ROBOTS’ opened in de Vrijstaat, which Casper designed together with SETUP. His self-playing robotic flute (2018) was displayed in museum Speelklok, Utrecht, from september 2018 until march 2019. In november 2018 the installation ‘SWEATSHOP’ premiered, which he made together with fashion designer Floortje Wijnands as part of the project ‘Installation48’ commissioned by Oneseconds and SETUP. In 2019 he started to work on a pottery robot based on the pottery scene in Ghost(1990) as part of the year program ‘Unchained Melodies’ by SETUP. Multiple new autonomous projects started in 2018 and 2019. Casper does occasional readings and workshops about Robots, robots and society and robots in schools, etc.
