El sitio es cuco, pero no es fácil llegar. Para fanáticos de la historia que quieran rememorar los sucesos de 1585.

Quite, clean and well maintained place to pray and reflect. The place is also a place of memory, dedicated to the role of the Immaculate Conception in the Miracle of Empel. The Miracle of Empel took place during the Battle of Empel in the night between the 7th and 8th December 1585. Many visitors come here to imagine and reconstruct in their minds what happened in those days. To understand what happened that night, it is important to notice that the area, like most of the West of the Netherlands, is now mostly dried by humans and built up with houses over artificial polders. At the time, these polders were all covered in water and in many places they deep enought for military ships to could sail over them. At the time, most of the West of the Netherlands were a huge swamp. This geographic area is also a religious border, where the two main Dutch religious traditions meet, the North Reformed-Calvinist and the South Catholic. Therefore, it is normal to find villeages next to each other that belong to one religious tradition or to the other. The chapel was built in 2000, as a substitute of the original chapel that was destroyed by the German Army in 1944. After visiting this chapel, I would advice to pass by the City Council of Empel, where they have in public exhibition a life size copy of the famous military paint "The Miracle of Empel" by Augusto Ferrer-Dalmau.
