About Cultureel Centrum 't Gasthoês
Er kwam een einde aan het middeleeuwse gasthuis in 1899, toen er werd besloten het reeds bestaande gebouw af te breken en er een gloednieuw gasthuis op te bouwen. Daarvoor werd architect Jan Jorna (1854-1927) aangesteld, die ervoor koos om het gebouw in neorenaissance stijl op te bouwen. Het kreeg de naam ‘Sint-Antoniusgesticht’, ook wel bekend als ‘Liefdesgesticht’ en later ‘Sint-Antoniusziekenhuis’. In de loop der jaren kreeg het gebouw nog een extra vrijstaand gebouw dat noodzakelijk werd voor het verplegen van besmettelijke zieken - ontworpen door Sjang Keijsers. In 1937 werd er door de Roermondse architect Joseph Franssen ook nog een kapel toegevoegd aan de rechter zijgevel van het gebouw.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Het is mooi geworden maar een doolhof. Bewegwijzering zou veel beter kunnen. Horeca personeel is NIET attent op rondzoekende mensen, wel de mensen met een beperking wat er Aant werk zijn, die doen erg hun best om je te helpen.
It turned out beautiful but a maze. Signage could be much better. Hospitality staff is NOT attentive to people looking around, but people with disabilities are what there are to work, who do their very best to help you.
