Zowel aan de noord- als aan de zuidzijde waren de twee grachten verbonden door een kolk – de noordelijke Kolk draagt nog steeds die naam. Het ingesloten land werd bij het graven van de Nieuwe Delft met klei opgehoogd en vormde de basis van de stad. In de Gouden Eeuw was dit hoger gelegen land in de drassige binnenstad een populaire woonplaats voor vermogende kooplieden. Aan de Oude Delft bevinden zich dan ook veel herenhuizen, die vaak de status van rijksmonument hebben[1]. Omstreeks 1300 kreeg Delft, als deel van zijn verdedigingswerken, voor het eerst een buitengracht. De hedendaagse opvolger van die buitengracht vormt tegenwoordig samen met het buitensteedse deel van de oorspronkelijke Delf de (Delftse) Schie.

The dishes were delicious, with a reasonable price.
A great place to visit if you want to enjoy lunch on the canal!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very nice meal. We had 2 Chef's plank menus and they did not just serve 2 of the same but made different choices for each course. Combined with 2 other menus, we had a taste of almost everything on the menu. Will definitely visit again!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Had the hamburger plank at this restaurant. (Choose from 1 of 3 burgers + fries + small salad) It was very tasty. The fries where also fresh and tasted great. Furthermore the restaurant staff was super friendly. The burger in the picture is the machoburger.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Super friendly staff, tasty burger (a tad small but a good one if you prefer quality over quantity) and beautiful scenery if you are lucky and the sun is out. There is a boat in front of the restaurant on which you can dine while enjoying the landscape. The Beer menu was quite limited and I recommend the owner to some Belgian beers to the mix. Definitely recommended.
