About De IJsvogel
De IJsvogel is gevestigd in een gerestaureerde werkende watermolen gelegen in het natuurgebied Barbara’s Weerd; De Wijmarsche Watermolen. Deze watermolen met een onder- en bovenslagrad wordt gevoed door de Lingsforter beek. In het café de Schenkerij met haar rustieke terras is het aangenaam verpozen. Bekend is het café door het assortiment koffie- en theevariaties. Een bezoek is de moeite waard. Bij een rondleiding of bezichtiging kan men de twee ambachten, dat van molenaar en stoker aanschouwen.
Een oude watermolen herleeft. In een eeuwenoud watermolen gebouw is een sfeervolle schenkerij ingericht met een rustiek terras. In de Schenkerij worden de eigen gestookte jenever, kruidenbitters en likeuren geserveerd. U kunt daar ook terecht voor koffie met vlaai en andere dranken en hapjes. Ook kunt u terecht voor een heerlijk lunch.
Tijdens de rondleiding met gids of een bezichtiging(zonder gids) aanschouwt u de twee ambachten; dat van molenaar en stoker. De rondgang voert u langs de zakkenvullerij, het maalwerk, de maalstenen, het luiwerk, de kruiden zolder en de distilleerderij.

Beautiful location.
The "moelenbrood" was good.

Large parts of the menu were unavailable.
What was left was just heated up canned food of below-average quality filled into colorful pottery.
The price was too high for the quality of food served.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great little restored water mill now hosting a small distillery and bar with even some fast food. The distillery has a huge variety of gins and other liqueurs to try and buy. For a small fee you can taste the history while getting a tour through the water mill and end it with some actual tasting of some of the spirits holding the name of the distillery. Parking on the premise is not available so you have to park on the side of the road.
