★ ★ ★ ★ ★ De Mimi’s was the very first art gallery we visited when we arrived in Amsterdam. Located on one of Prinsengracht’s finest corners, the space is enveloped by natural light that creates a blank canvas for the carefully curated art to truly shine.
The front of the gallery offers an exciting display of quirky, colourful prints for those who are enthusiastic about art and design but aren’t necessarily ready to invest in some of the bigger, more collectable pieces that are being exhibited (yet!).
I’ve attended more than one exhibition at De Mimi’s and striking up a conversation with Sabrina, the inspiringly passionate, approachable and knowledgeable owner, will bring you to the realisation that the gallery is focused on promoting up-and-coming artists, making art more accessible and creating a space for you to appreciate it in your own way.
P.S. De Mimi’s also offers a selection of fine coffees! And with winter on the horizon, why wouldn’t you want to enjoy a satisfying flat white or rich espresso while you browse? Or, better yet, take it to go after your visit to help you brave the cold! ☕️
