Prachtig visitekaartje voor Leidschendam. Bij stilstaand water en zonnig weer weerspiegelt de molen prachtig in het water als je vanuit het noorden Leidschendam binnen komt fietsen.
Beautiful business card for Leidschendam. In stagnant water and sunny weather, the mill reflects beautifully in the water when you enter Leidschendam from the north.

Op de woensdagen en zaterdagen is de molen in bedrijf en kan deze bezocht worden. Duidelijke uitleg. Sowieso een prachtig staaltje techniek en cultureel/industrieel erfgoed. Veel extra's voor kinderen.
The mill is in operation on Wednesdays and Saturdays and can be visited. Clear explanation. In any case, a beautiful example of technology and cultural/industrial heritage. Lots of extras for kids.

OMG this is the best place to visit in The Hague. It's only open limited hours so check. This is a fully operational wind saw mill. There's no entry fee ( but they happily take donations, although they don't hassle you for one ) and you can get a guided tour by one of the very friendly volunteers. Ground floor is the saw mill (fascinating in itself), but you also get to go up to the next two floors where all the magic is done. Huge gears, drive belts, shafts, thatch, and lots more. So hard to believe that much of the technology and engineering is some 4 to 5 hundred years old. I. Would suggest that every kid should see this stuff just to understand the implication of this invention. 25 percent of Holland is lower than sea level, so without these wind Mills Holland literally wouldn't exist as it does today. Probably hard to get to without a car, but worth the Uber price. You won't be disappointed with this side trip.

This sawmill was built in 1777. Over the years it was in a ruined state. In the 1980's a movement was created to restore the windmill in its current state. Since 1995 it is back in active service, cutting wood. It is open for the public between Wednesday and Saturday from 14:00 till 16:00
