★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Netjes om hier een monument voor te plaatsen. Theo was voor veel mensen een typische Nederlander, een cultheld. Een rokende, drinkende, grofgebekte, dik en warig figuur. Hij zag er uit alsof hij net uit de kroeg kwam, maar was altijd scherp.
Hij wist goed in kaart te brengen dat vrijheid van meningsuiting je niet altijd geliefd maakt, maar wel duidelijkheid schept.
Nice to place a monument for this. For many people, Theo was a typical Dutchman, a cult hero. A smoking, drinking, coarse-mouthed, fat and coarse figure. He looked like he had just left the pub, but was always sharp.
He knew well that freedom of expression does not always make you loved, but it creates clarity.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Naast het beeld van de ondeugende jongens van Nescio, zou je hier zo ver kunnen lopen, je omdraaien en de kerk van Isaac Israëls Oosterpark zien; denkend aan t IJ dat daar zo mooi achter schijnt, tot aan Marken kun je kijken.
Besides the statue of the naughty boys of Nescio, you could walk this far here, turn around and see the church of Isaac Israëls Oosterpark; thinking of t IJ that shines so beautifully behind it, you can see as far as Marken.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Piccola opera di arte contemporanea lungo il perimetro sud di Oosterpark, dedicato alla libertà. Forse non vale la pena andarci apposta, ma se passate di là può essere interessante leggerne la storia sulla targhetta di metallo al limitare della strada.
Small works of contemporary art along the southern perimeter of Oosterpark, dedicated to freedom. Maybe it's not worth going there on purpose, but if you pass by it may be interesting to read the story on the metal tag on the edge of the road.
