About De Tempel estate

Hoewel De Tempel een totaal andere uitstraling heeft dan het omliggende boerenland, heeft deze buitenplaats een sterke verbinding met het polderlandschap. De Tempel heeft namelijk niet altijd pal aan De Schie gelegen. Eerder lag het in wat nu de Zuidpolder bij Rodenrijs is. De toenmalige eigenaar, burgermeester van Rotterdam Johan van der Hoeven, begon daar met het winnen van turf in de veengronden. Dit zorgde in die tijd voor goede inkomsten, maar daardoor verdween het land onder water. Naam De Tempel en ‘heerlijke rechten’ werden in 1715 naar zijn boerderij Berkeloord aan de Schie verplaatst. Met het geld van de vervening legde Van der Hoeven tuinen met lanen en vijvers met fonteinen aan.

J	Juan Babtist on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Historische (natuur) plaats, sinds kort beheerd door natuur monumenten. Geweldige zet! Er zijn grootse plannen te verwezenlijken, maar dat kost geld. Er zijn gebouwen te renoveren en er is veel prachtige kunst te herstellen. Uiteindelijk zal dit dubbel en dwars de moeite waard blijken. Er is een enorme potentie aan mogelijkheden aanwezig. Zeker met de schie (aanlegplaats voor dagjes mensen) op loopafstand. Met een goed beleid wordt dit zeker een groot succes! Prachtig stuk Rotterdam! Historic (nature) place, recently managed by nature monuments. Great move! Big plans can be realized, but that costs money. There are buildings to renovate and a lot of beautiful art to restore. In the end, this will prove doubly worth it. There is an enormous potential of possibilities. Especially with the schie (mooring place for day trips) within walking distance. With a good policy, this will certainly be a great success! Beautiful piece of Rotterdam!

Ik kwam een bewoner tegen die vertelde dat het anti-kraak bewoners zijn die op dit landgoed wonen. Prachtig gebied en het bezoeken echt waard! Fantastic estate on the Schie!! Just had to look there and that was allowed, you can walk there and quietly enjoy the beautiful nature. I met a resident who told me that they are anti-squat residents who live on this estate. Beautiful area and really worth a visit!

Er zijn door Natuurmonunenten nieuwe wandelpaden aangelegd, en in de toekomst wordt de klassieke vijvers e.d. verder in oude glorie hersteld. Beautiful estate, recently easily accessible. New footpaths have been constructed by Natuurmonunen, and in the future the classic ponds and the like will be further restored to their former glory.

G	Gabor Racz on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Well, it is a nice little garden, but if the goal is to escape the city and the noise, and spend a few hours a bit closer to nature, you will be disappointed. First, it is located right next to the (very busy) motorway. So the place is noisy. Secondly, the park is tiny. It takes 20 minutes to get around, then you either do the same again or go home. On the positive side, it is close to Den Haag and Rotterdam. But then again: both cities have bigger/better parks than this one.
