Both the service and food was average. I had a fish dish and the fish was not fresh. It also tasted a bit stale with some funky smell. Few wines were oxidized and not very good. The only good thing about the place is the view. You can see the garden from anywhere in the restaurant.

This has to be one of the cutest place in Utrecht. They have a small outdoor sitting area, an indoor area and a covered garden area. All these areas are wonderful to sit. Especially in the garden in the winter. The staff is super nice and very kind. The food was really good. Also the vegetarian dishes. A bit expensive but the quality is good. The dessert wines are good too. Try the Muscat wine, it's really tasty

The garden looks amazing and each customer seems to have their own intimate space. The food is well seasoned and the plates are generous. The staff is super friendly and quick.

Amazing garden, very cozy atmosphere, nice Cava and desserts!

Very cute restaurant, bright and cozy. The big windows all around the halls show a garden that probably is used during the warmer seasons. The food is very tasty and also the wine is very good! Unfortunately when we went there for lunch we had to wait almost 1 hour for hour sandwiches, but the waitress was very nice and offered us the wine glasses to make up to the inconvenience. Anyway, probably there was some problems with our order because the other tables had their food pretty quickly. In general I think I will return!

The ambiance was very enjoyable at the Zakkendrager although a quite noisy on a Friday evening (restaurant was full). I really appreciated the large diversity of vegetarian options (three starters and three main courses). I went for the Grilled beets salad with almonds, dille, white balsamic syrup and seasalt and fennel seeds crackers. Very fresh and well executed. The slow-roasted aubergine and bell pepper with parmesan polenta, tomatoes and yogurt dressing was also very tasty. The dish is great but we had to wait quite some times to be served (which might be due to the fact that the restaurant only reopened a short while ago).

What a gem of an inner garden in the centre of Utrecht! The location is great, the dishes are hearty and comforting, and the drink selection is very nice. The place has a very romantic atmosphere, so I would definitely recommend it for a date! Only point of improvement is the service. The timing was slightly off--I think they might have forgotten about us in our little corner of the garden. Waiting for food is not that big of a deal, as long as drinks come out quickly to coast us over.

The garden of the restaurant is really amazing. Great atmosphere! The food started off as average, the poached salmon was served with an enormous amount of mayonnaise which made the flavour quite bland. The lobster croquettes were a better starter. When the main dishes arrived I was very pleased however, I felt like these were more traditional dishes which both tasted really good, finally the dessert was also nice. I did feel like the staff could use some extra training or experience, they where a bit all over the place, and we had to remind them about things several times. They were clearly trying though and friendly so perhaps due to corona closure, if some time passes it'll improve. Finally I was just somewhat disappointed with the wine, especially the fact that we got a bottle with a screw top rather then with a cork was not particularly french to me. All in all I think there's room for improvement but I would recommend and will likely return. Edit: I did return and I was not impressed, mistakes where made, and the quality of both the food as well as the service where not good. The garden is a great asset for this restaurant but I will not return again.
