Die Zeitung war über viele Jahre sehr gut und hat mir schon seit der Schulzeit sehr geholfen. So wurde mein Elektronik-Hobby zum Beruf. Leider ist seit einiger Zeit der Aspekt der (Analog-) Elektronik sehr zugunsten Digital- (Microcontroller-) technik verschoben. Vieles ist irgendwie nur immer die x-te Standardschaltung auf einem y-ten Controller und der einzige Unterschied ist die Programmierung, auf die jedoch in technischer Hinsicht niemals eingegangen wird. Man kann sich ja den Quellcode herunterladen uns selbst suchen wie es funktioniert... Nun war Elektor nie ein ausgewiesenes Programmierermagazin, aber so wird die Zeitschrift doch langsam nur noch der Katalog für den Webshop, wo man alles zum Nachbau (ohne daß man es verstehen muß) kaufen kann. Der Webshop ist eher durchschnittlich, es gibt durchschnittliche Produkte zu durchschnittlichen Preisen, durchschnittlichen Lieferzeiten und -hm...- durchschnittlicher Lieferqualität. Da kauft man eine Kombi aus E-Book und Hardware, dann wird vergessen den Link zum Herunterladen mitzuschicken; -außerdem passt die Hardware nicht zum E-Book. -Tolles Bundle!!! (Das war jetzt Sarkasmus!) Meistens wird relativ schnell geliefert, es ist aber schon passiert, daß ich 3 Wochen auf ein Buch warten und 2x Nachfragen musste, bis es abgeschickt wurde. -Obwohl "Versand in 3-4 Tagen" dran stand. Ein Teil der Bücher ist sehr gut geschrieben, bei einem Teil fehlt mir auch manchmal die technische Tiefe. (ZB: Das Buch über Solaranlagen ist sicherlich ein Ratgeber, der die Fragen auflistet und dem Laien verständlich erklärt, aber leider keinerlei Antworten liefert. -Mithin habe ich hinterher viel mehr Fragen und immernoch keine Antwort...) Speziell bei dem Haus-und Hof-Autor Dogan Ibrahim kriege ich jedesmal(!) 50% des Buches eine Einführung in die Grundlagen eines Microcontrollers, die Installation der (Arduino-) IDE oder wie man ein (Raspberry Pi-) Betriebssystem installiert. Das brauche ich nicht mehr! -Wenn, gäbe es genügend andere (bessere!) Lektüre dazu. Nun bin ich mit über 60 vielleicht nicht mehr das Zielpublikum, aber ein Proffesional (-> Elektor Business) mag auch nicht jedesmal erst lesen, wie das 1x1 funktioniert... Zur Zeit weiß Elektor wohl nicht genau, wie es sich weiterentwickeln wird und versucht dem aktuellen Trend zu folgen, ohne zu wissen welcher Trend das sein wird. So werden mit Zeitschrift, Buchverlag, Elektronikshop verschiedene Profitlinien verfolgt, aber keine hohe Qualität mehr geliefert, was schade ist. Elektor ist jetzt auch über 60 Jahre alt, damit kommt bereits der 2. Generationswechsel; ich hoffe daß der Mut und die Qualität der Anfangszeit sich wieder durchsetzen. Sollte von Elektor das jemand lesen: Bitte an die Zentrale weitergeben!

This company has no interest in servicing its customers's needs. I ordered $271 USD of equipment from Elektor. On the order form, I put the wrong address, so I immediately created a support ticket to correct the error. Two days later, customer service assured me that the address would be changed. There was never confirmation that it was changed, because their help desk does not follow up. Two weeks later, I created another help desk ticket because I had received no information whatsoever about the status of my order, which had read "processed" for two weeks already. Two business days later, I received an extremely short reply. The reply did not answer all of my questions, except to say that my order would be shipped that week, and they would provide me with shipping info as soon as it was shipped. The following Tuesday (over a week later), I replied to the ticket again, asking where my package was. I had received no shipping info over the course of the third week, and it was now the fourth week since I had placed my order. The next day, the help desk responded saying that my package was already shipped as of the day before, and gave me the tracking number. Shipment was performed through DHL Germany and handed off to the US Postal Service. I kept an eye on the order. The shipment carriers performed as expected. When the order finally arrived, it arrived at the wrong location. It was shipped to the incorrect address. Even though they had 3 weeks to change the destination address, it was NEVER CHANGED. The parcel was delivered 65 miles from my current location (luckily, it was delivered to my parents' house, instead of that of a stranger). This gets 1 star. The lazy, half-assed help desk replies, the fact that all information about my order only came after my repeated nagging of customer support (it should have been forthcoming), the extremely slow action to send my package (the website claimed 3-5 day shipment time, which I assumed was time-to-ship, not time-to-deliver, but they overshot that by 2 weeks), and the fact that very important shipment information that I tendered the same night I placed my order was either ignored, not followed through, or miscommunicated are why I will never order from Elektor again. I get much better service from 2 dollar orders from Chinese Ebay sellers (far better in fact) in spite of the shipment delay from China. Elektor made me, the customer, feel like a nuisance. This is unacceptable. Elektor, FIX YOUR PROCESS.

I bought 2 developer boards. The package came very quick and was well made. Sadly one of the two boards was the wrong type, even tho I purchased the correct one. When I sent a complaint about the wrong delivery they told me that they don`t sell the board I received. The answer sounded like they would not believe me that I got the wrong delivery. It took another week until they found out that they got the wrong shipping from their supplier. I was allowed to send back the falsely shipped board afterwards. Sadly they didn`t have the correct board I paid for in stock. Therefore I had to purchase that at another Shop. The whole return process went over 2 weeks, the support service was not very fast and I had the feeling that they didn`t want to believe me at first. Every action from their side needed at least two emails. One explaining the issue and one setting some kind of deadline.
