Aan lagers die worden toegepast in mossel ontrossings machines worden extreem hoge eisen gesteld ., het lager moet een robuste behuizing hebben, roestvast, water bestendig en de capaciteiten om zware en axiale krachten te weerstaan. Dit is de industrie waarvoor de originele Extreme Bearing ontwikkeld is, want de normale lagers sleten te snel. In het Nederlandse vissersdorpje Yerseke zijn mossels een grote industry, ervaring laat zien dat een normaal lager ca. drie maanden meegaat, terwijl de Extreme Bearing drie jaar of meer meegaat voordat hij vervangen moet worden.
