P	Peter Peters on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great hotel in a nice spot of the city. Soft bed in a spacious room. Lovely staff. Breakfast is a bit different, but great. No buffet. No menu to choose from. Just coffee, tea, juice and a plate with egg, cheese and meat. And a basket with some fantastic bread.

K	Koenraad De Smedt on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Newly refurbished 17th century mansion in the center of Utrecht, fifteen minutes' walking from the train station. My room was sufficiently spacious and comfortable, although my back did not appreciate the mattress (but this is a matter of personal preference). The shower has a door that closes it off well from the rest of the bathroom (a rarity in today's hotel world). There were a few technical design problems, such as a shower head that didn't stay in place, insufficient sound insulation, overly big bedside lamps that cannot be turned upwards, and a fancy-looking but incomprehensible thermostat (a rampant problem in today's hotel world). The breakfast was not a buffet, but had table service, which could have been nice if sufficient staff were available. However, at 8 am the serving capacity was exceeded even if the breakfast room was not even fully occupied. The staff was friendly and maintenance was good. All in all, not a bad hotel but room for improvement.

However, the room I was staying in (number 001) was located next to the kitchen and is very noisy from about 4.30 onwards when preparations for breakfast are starting. It also has a view on a brick wall. This room should be avoided at all costs, but I am sure that other rooms in the hotel are far better.

G	G C on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I absolutely loved this hotel! Crispy linen, amazing towels, fantastic mattreses. Open "salle de douche", with good vanity set. Really nice staff. Centrally located, and very quiet at the same time. Amazing decorative style, with items related to ophtalmology. So original!

Not perfect for a long stay, as there's no kitchen box in the (small & medium) rooms, but we loved our week there nonetheless. The building is unique, so make sure to let them know if you don't do well with stairs, so they give you an easily accessible room. Also, the doors aren't very soundproof, be mindful of that :) We'll definitely visit again if we need a place to stay in Utrecht!
