Natuurmonumenten krijgt gelijk in bezwaar tegen garnalenvisserij Westerschelde

De uitspraak van 30 maart 2022 door de Raad van State betekent opnieuw huiswerk voor de minister. Als gevolg van een bezwaar van Natuurmonumenten tegen de vergunningverlening voor garnalenvisserij in Natura2000 gebied de Westerschelde moet het ministerie beter motiveren waarom ze denkt dat dit geen schade toebrengt aan de natuur. Uit onderzoek blijkt namelijk dat bodem beroerende visserij slecht is voor de biodiversiteit. Binnen Natura2000 gebieden zou dat meegenomen moeten worden bij de vergunningverlening. Zeker in een gebied zoals de Westerschelde waar de staat van de natuur ronduit slecht is.

Gebouwd vanwege het gebakkelei tussen België en Nederland over de controle van de Schelde en de toegang tot Antwerpen. In de 2e Wereldoorlog gebruikt als luchtdoelgeschut-emplacement en interneringskamp. Na de capitulatie diende het als gevangenis voor NSB-ers en meer verdacht volk. Het nabijgelegen Ellewoutsdijk is in de oorlog zwaar getroffen tijdens de Slag om de Schelde. Hierover is ondermeer een looproute met fotopanelen en audio via een app ingericht. Still intact fortress from the post Napoleon era. Built because of the squabble between Belgium and the Netherlands over control of the Scheldt and access to Antwerp. Used in World War II as an antiaircraft emplacement and internment camp. After the capitulation it served as a prison for NSB members and more suspicious people. The nearby Ellewoutsdijk was badly hit during the war during the Battle of the Scheldt. This includes a walking route with photo panels and audio via an app.
B	B. W. on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Der Besuch der Festung war kostenlos, jedoch gab es auch nicht viel zu sehen. Der Großteil der Räume steht leer, nur in einem gibt es eine kleine Ausstellung. Man kann sich das Fort anschauen, jedoch verbringt man hier wohl nicht viel Zeit. Visiting the fortress was free, but there wasn't much to see either. Most of the rooms are empty, only one has a small exhibition. You can look at the fort, but you probably don't spend much time here.

A pity that there isn't much to be seen from the walk way, you really have to get in to see something. Not sure when it's open to public. But the location has some spectacular views over the westerschelde, and the beauty of Ellewouts dijk. A small community with lot's of authentic elements in the streets, the houses, layout, etc. Lot's of history there.
