★ ★ ★ ★ ★ After the Second World War, the fortress lost its defensive function. From 1985 it was refurbished and made suitable for peaceful reuse.
The earthen cover wall was excavated and the moat and bridge were repaired. Fort aan de Ossenmarkt, which was festively reopened in 1992, houses the Kreatieve Groep Weesp, a music school and the Historical Circle Weesp. The engineer shed from 1877 now houses an exhibition space.
