β β β β β The first proper Udon place in Amsterdam. It's by the same people that run Fou Fow Ramen so of course they understand good broth. The tempura could be crisper but the beef noodle bowl was really amazing. Quite expensive for Udon but Amsterdam IS in the midst of a Japanese noodle arms race that is driving up prices everywhere.

β β β β β My boyfriend and i went in this little place back in 2019 during a vacation, and we came back this year in Novembrer.
Everything is good, the food, the price, the atmosphere, we are totally in love with this restaurant!

β β β β β No frills, a hot bowl of authentic Japanese udon for a quick fix in Amsterdam. Order for additional chilli if you want some additional kick!

β β β β β I donβt know about you, but sometimes you need a break from ramen and UDON is the best! My boyfriend and I had the Niku Udon Classic which was the bomb (beef was tender and had a lot of flavor) and Rayu Udon was delicious! The wasabi mayo that was with the Kara-age chicken was freaking crunchy delicious ???

β β β β β Tasty bowl of udon - suitable to eat all winter! We had Fou Fow Classic Udon, udon served with shrimp tempura, onsen egg (slow cooked, runny egg), tofu, spring onions, daikon (radish).
Onsen egg might be an acquired taste for those who are not a fan of eggs. The process takes precision to get that silky look and creamy texture. They did it well. Although it looks uncooked, it doesnβt have the βraw egg smellβ.
The star of the dish would be the shrimp tempura. The batter is light and crunchy. Wish they would add more than just one shrimp.
We also ordered warm sake, it was thick and sweet. Did not go well with the light udon broth. Hope they will have more assortment of warm sake in the future.
Ambiance: open kitchen & noodle bar. fun to watch while you wait for your food!

β β β β β The food is very delicious but I would only give 3-4 stars because they have three udon dishes that you can order in a vegan version which is nice but their classic udon dish non vegan version is 16,50 with this you get shrimp tempura veggies etc the vegan version on the other hand comes with two slices of zucchini and 3 small tofu but you still have to pay 16,50 which honestly is very shameful am sorry. I hope you would consider changing either the price of your vegan dishes or adding more veggies/toppings.
Otherwise the place is cute, the service is nice!
