About Friture Snackbar De Aw Brök
Sandy Stassen en haar echtgenoot Jos van Geleen namen in februari 1994 de friture-cafetaria van de ouders van Sandy, Truus en Noël Stassen, over. In augustus 1979 openden Truus en Noël hun zaak aan het Cörversplein 4, gelegen aan de voet van de Sint Servaasbrug, in de volksmond ook wel “de aw brök” genoemd.
In die tijd was Maastricht al een populaire stad voor toeristen, maar dat is de laatste jaren enorm toegenomen, evenals het aantal studenten. Deze “aw brök” wordt dan ook dagelijks, zijnde de kortste verbinding tussen Wyck en het stadscentrum, door talloze mensen gebruikt. Net zoals dit gebied zich sterk heeft ontwikkeld, geldt dat ook voor de friture-cafetaria “De Aw Brök”.
In de periodes met lekker weer bieden Sandy, Jos en hun personeel aan de voet van de brug een prachtige locatie om rustig te zitten en een heerlijk hapje te eten of een borrel te drinken met uitzicht op de binnenstad en de Maas. Het menu van De Aw Brök is zo geëvolueerd dat het naast het traditionele cafetaria-assortiment is uitgebreid met een ruime keuze aan uiteenlopende gerechten, zodat ook u een gerecht vindt dat u aanstaat. De veelzijdige drankenkaart biedt de keuze van een kop thee tot en met een tot in perfectie afgemeten cocktail.
Tijdens de dagen dat de verwarming u aantrekkelijker lijkt dan een koude terrasstoel, bieden wij u de mogelijkheid om binnen te genieten van een hapje eten, een lekkere warme drank of een borrel met, onder andere, bitterballen en mosterd.
Feitelijk dekt de term friture-cafetaria de lading niet meer. Brasserie-cafetaria is meer van toepassing. Maar… wie maalt daar om?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Best frituur in Maastricht if you ask me. They make the best zuurvlees. It is prepared fresh every other day. The fries are really great quality and I recommend this place over Reitz which I perceive as overrated. The staff is also friendly and very helpful.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great terasse! Food quality ok and service miserable. The young blond waiter guy taking care of the terasse came to take our order after 25min wait. He was quite rude, but we just decided to ignore him and enjoy the sun in the terasse.
But when we asked for the bill, he just left and never came back So we decided to go inside to pay and they just told us to go back to sit. Then after 15min waiting for any sign of life from them, we went back inside where this waiter was talking with his colleagues, ask him the bill again and he answered us " don't you see I'm busy now ?". He finally just said an amount and refused to give a receipt because it's too much effort for him as he said "no I would have to put all the other bills in order and I don't have time.
I think this guy should not work in the hospitality if he doesn't want to give at least a little effort.
Very bad experience and don't recommend at all.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ worst place to get your fries in town... awful service with two young people talking about us in dutch (they thought we didn’t understand). the young blonde guy touched his hair THEN touched our fries with the dirty hands. when we asked about that, he didn’t see anything wrong with that, they obviously don’t hygiene here. beautiful view is the only thing positive about this place...

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Worst experience with staff. Language barrier exists but lack of common sense in treating guests. Not at all recommended, experience here completely killed the vibe of the place for me. Handwritten bills, with mistakes in total bill. Completely strange experience in Netherlands so far. The only plus is the view !

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It only gets one star because of its location, view over the river and relatively cheap prices. Everything else is a nightmare. We waited around half an hour to have 2 beers delivered, even after reminding the waitress several times. In addition to that, we tried ordering some fries and as that was even more waiting than for the beer we asked to have that cancelled. When we paid the waitress allegedly claimed that she was removing the fries from the bill and only gave me a receipt with the total amount. Typical tourist scam.Tipsy me without thinking twice, paid it. Total scam, avoid going at all costs !!!
