★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I appreciate that many people have received unwanted letters and hopefully the company will stop this stupid practice(!), but as a lender I have found the platform, clear efficient and reliable, with a good return and a low default rate after 6 months use.

They have just offered to invest / loan a quarter of a million, "after a careful scan". Apparently the Careful Scan failed to turn up that the company in question has been closed for quite a while, now.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Here’s a riddle: How many company spam letters does it take to make a reasonable person become so full of rage that they take the time out of their day to write a review on Google? A LOT. Funding Circle is an aggressive financial company that enjoys harassing unwilling participants with deceptive, careless and pointless letters. Their practices are untrustworthy, beware.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I invest in loans via Funding Circle in The Netherlands. I think it is a great alternative to banks. It opens up new credit for businesses and provides an alternative way for one to invest in loans to local companies. Good way to help the economy. Website is clear but wish they had an app. Perhaps international loans and the ability to buy into a collection of many loans in 1 transaction would be really helpful. Also would love the ability to sell / trade loans.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I would love to write a good review, but after a year of investing my return is -1.28% over 17 different investments. The risk ratings of companies are poor at best, and you cannot rely on them to make a safe investment. Some companies have gone into administration only months after initial investment. So far Funding Circle has not been able to collect funds from them, although they keep sending me emails to tell me they are working on it. I have little confidence. My advice is to rather invest in assets you can control, such as stock & property. I have had doubts about how certain I can be that my money is actually invested in real companies.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Avoid lending with funding circle. Since covid they're preventing new lending and preventing loans been sold to other lenders. So there is no option to sell your loans and take your money out. They are focusing on making more money for themselves by lending government money not lenders.
