★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Het oorspronkelijke gasthuis bij de Grote of Jacobijnerkerk werd in 1634 gesticht door Abbe Freerks Gabbema. In 1906 kwam aan de Wijbrand de Geeststraat nieuwbouw tot stand naar plannen van Willem Cornelis de Groot. Het U-vormige pand en het tuinhek zijn uitgevoerd in jugendstil-vormen. Het eenlaagspand is opgetrokken uit oranjerode verblendsteen. Op het dak liggen rood- en groen geglazuurde pannen. In het midden van het gebouw bevindt zich boven de ingang een polychroom tegeltableau met de naam van het gasthuis en een houten klokkentorentje met ingesnoerde spits.
The original guest house at the Grote or Jacobijnerkerk was founded in 1634 by Abbe Freerks Gabbema. In 1906 new construction was realized on the Wijbrand de Geeststraat, according to plans by Willem Cornelis de Groot. The U-shaped building and the garden gate are made in Art Nouveau shapes. The one-layered building is made of orange-red glowing stone. There are red and green glazed tiles on the roof. In the center of the building is a polychrome tile tableau with the name of the guest house above the entrance and a wooden bell tower with a narrowed spire.
