★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fijn plein aan het worden met die terrassen. En die naald? Dat is een natuurstenen obelisk uit 1905, opgericht ter ere van de populaire koningin-moeder. De obelisk is versierd met een allegorisch vrouwenbeeld en een portetbuste en profil in brons van Emma, vervaardigd door Arend Odé en A.F. Gips.
 Becoming a nice square with those terraces. And that needle? This is a stone obelisk from 1905, erected in honor of the popular Queen Mother. The obelisk is decorated with an allegorical female statue and a profile bust of Emma in bronze, made by Arend Odé and A.F. Gips.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a monument for the grandmother of the late queen Beatrice. Her name was Emma. She was a very popular regent but it caused the independence of Luxemburg due to a anti female clause that prohibited females to lead the Dutch (including Luxembourg) country.
Emma gave birth to her daugher, Wilhelmina.
As I am writing this in April 2019, there is a photo gallery of the Polish community of The Hague. The Hague houses a huge community and that is reflected with a the various Polish shops and restaurants scattered throughout the city.
