Matthijs is heel vriendelijk en relaxed en zorgt er voor dat je zo veel mogelijk uit de lessen haalt. Daarnaast leert hij je verschillende liedjes en technieken en is er veel ruimte voor eigen inbreng. Al met al top! :) After a long time, I finally took the plunge and started taking guitar lessons. I am very happy that I chose to take guitar lessons with Matthijs! Matthijs is very friendly and relaxed and ensures that you get the most out of the lessons. In addition, he teaches you different songs and techniques and there is a lot of room for your own input. All in all great! †

Als beginnende gitaarspeler is het heel fijn dat je aan de hand van concrete muziek langzaam de technieken en behendigheid opbouwt die je nodig hebt. Matthijs weet elke keer weer een nieuw nummer te kiezen waarbij ik nieuwe technieken leer of die kan verfijnen. En als ik zelf een keer een nummer heb dat ik graag wil leren, dan past Matthijs het stuk eenvoudig aan op mijn niveau. Ook heel fijn dat ik zelf kan bepalen hoe vaak ik les wil, en flexibel kan aanpassen aan mijn eigen agenda. Aanrader! Very satisfied with the lessons with Matthijs. Super flexible in terms of quantity, type of music and techniques. As a beginning guitar player it is very nice that you slowly build up the techniques and dexterity you need on the basis of concrete music. Matthijs knows how to choose a new song every time where I learn new techniques or can refine them. And if I once have a song that I would like to learn, Matthijs easily adapts the piece to my level. Also very nice that I can decide how often I want lessons, and that I can adapt flexibly to my own agenda. Recommended!

Door middel van de uitstekende lessen die veel leerzame dingen bevatten heb ik veel geleerd. Met Matthijs ben je ook heel vrij in de muziekstijl die je wilt leren. Hij leert je niet alleen het liedje, maar ook de theoretische inzichten ervan. Ook heeft Matthijs mij veel nieuwe dingen technieken geleerd die ik voorheen nog niet kon. Matthijs is ook heel geduldig, wat fijn is bij het leren van nieuwe dingen. Verder heb ik het altijd enorm naar mijn zin tijdens de lessen en de locatie (een fort in Utrecht) is heel aangenaam doordat het gericht is op muziek. Kortom, raad ik iedereen aan om gitaarles bij Matthijs te volgen. With Matthijs as guitar teacher I have made enormous growth in playing guitar in the past six months. I learned a lot through the excellent lessons that contained many instructive things. With Matthijs you are also very free in the style of music you want to learn. He not only teaches you the song, but also the theoretical insights of it. Matthijs also taught me many new techniques that I was not able to do before. Matthijs is also very patient, which is nice when learning new things. Furthermore, I always have a great time during the lessons and the location (a fortress in Utrecht) is very pleasant because it is focused on music. He is a relaxed guy, with a great sense of humour, that focuses on teaching how to have fun with your guitar and not just how to play with your guitar. He introduced me to improvisation, unlocked a new creative world to me and on every lesson he has some kind of new surprise for me. I always learn something new, I always have fun and I literally feel blessed to have him as my teacher. There are so many teachers out there that teach music as if it's maths or physics and they lose the whole point. Music is not a science, it's an art and a medium of expression. And Matthais gets that very well. If you don't believe me, give him a try and you won't regret it!

I'm playing already a couple of songs including singing. Something I really didn't expect after I started four months ago. Thanks to Matthijs his way of teaching and coaching in a very pleasant and practical way. I'm able to bring in my own songs which I want to learn, and practice on the difficults I experience, learning the tricks to get next level with playing the guitar. This all in a very nice and cosy music studio in a historical forth, a nice atmosphere and a lot of patience from Matthijs. Big thanks for this all!
