★ ★ ★ ★ ★ my experience is not universal, but when i went to bongert to have a riding lesson in the framework of parafrid, the riding teacher told me on the first lesson that i should think about losing weight. i was unaware that being a riding teacher also means being a nutrition/metabolism/human body expert. it did not matter that i was within the range of weight that is allowed on horses, she still felt like she had to say it. she also got quiet really quick when i told her that this is out of my control due to disabilities.
there were two trainers in the indoor riding area, one being in training, the other one siting in the corner staring at the horses and not saying much. later i was told that she is the main trainer, so she must have told it to the trainee (their words not mine). the board member also kept defending the riding teachers in their decision to make these comments. i really recommend taking a course in diversity.
after the training i was told by another person in my group that during the first lessons she was told that she is an absolute horrible rider. then i realized, this is not just Dutch directness, its just lack of human decency. cant recommend going there, expect if you want to develop some interesting mental health problems.
maybe the social aspect is nice, but i will not take this kind of treatment for a few minutes of a borrel avond.
