Verwacht geen vakantiepark, want huisjes liggen zonder verdere voorzieningen en zonder verharde weg er naar toe midden in het bos. Voor als je van absolute rust houdt. Wel wilde zwijntjes en herten in je voortuin. Mevrouw Spijker zorgt sinds juni vorig jaar voor het onderhoud, de renovatie en het beheer van de zogenoemde HAL-huisjes. HAL staat voor Holland Amerika Lijn. De huisjes waren oorspronkelijk bedoeld voor personeelsleden van de Holland Amerika Lijn, die met boten de lijndienst verzorgde tussen Rotterdam en New York. Toen die dienst in 1978 werd opgeheven, kwamen de huisjes in het bezit van Stichting Vakantie- en Recreatieoorden. De huisjes worden nog altijd verhuurd, maar alleen aan oud-personeelsleden van de HAL en anderen die een band met dat bedrijf hadden. Soberheid is er troef: geen kantine, geen televisie, geen wifi. Maar daar staat de rust tegenover. En vanaf de sofa zie je vlak voor je neus wilde zwijnen en herten scharrelen. Simple holiday home, previously intended for employees of the Holland America Line.
