About Heat Too Hot
Developments in music technology have eliminated almost all limitations in the recording process. Digitalization and its endless possibilities has made most of the current music sound mechanical, rigid and cold.
If you work with syncopated 60’s & 70’s rooted music (soul, funk, psych, reggae, afro, latin, caribbean) you know it’s crucial to have a certain amount of grit and sweat for it to sound right. It needs to be raw. It needs to have soul.
Finding someone who can truly understand these subtleties without falling into the dogmatic vintage void can be a real challenge.
After 20 years collecting and dealing records and 10 years making them I have developed obsessively trained ears and a sharp musical intuition.
If you’re sick of having to explain that you don’t mean it as a compliment when you say it sounds “too clean”, I hear you. That’s why I learned to make records myself. I figured the best way of combining the sonic principles of classic records with the convinience of current technology.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We recorded the rhythm tracks to The Phantom Four's latest single in this studio. I can assure you that Alex is your best bet in Amsterdam when looking for a true top-class vintage sound! Besides producing and engineering, he is a multi-instrumentalist himself who understands every part of the recording process.
We were also lucky enough to make use of his own goldmine of percussion instruments that he collected himself from all around the globe and during the recording he even played together with us for some "extra sabor"!
If you want your sound to be fire, this is definitely the place be!
