★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Prachtige brug, zonder twijfel, maar een verschrikking om er langs te komen. Meegemaakt dat de brug om de 5 minuten open gaat, of dat ie zo lang open staat dat het helemaal vastloopt op de N-weg en aan de andere kant van de brug door Waddinxveen. Nostalgie 5 sterren, doorstroming en infrastructuur 0 sterren. Uiteraard zou een 'klapbrug' geen ontwikkeling zijn, dus maar geduld hebben en hopen dat je na twee keer rood niet weer voor een open brug staat.
 Beautiful bridge, without a doubt, but a horror to come by. Experience that the bridge opens every 5 minutes, or that it is open for so long that it completely crashes on the N-road and on the other side of the bridge through Waddinxveen. Nostalgia 5 stars, traffic flow and infrastructure 0 stars. Obviously a 'folding bridge' would not be a development, so just be patient and hope that after two reds you will not be standing in front of an open bridge again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Superfijne brug als je echt even lekker wil wachten terwijl je haast hebt. Als je een beetje geluk hebt, mag je zelfs twee openingen wachten tot je er over heen mag. Sensationele ervaring!
Super nice bridge if you really want to wait while you are in a hurry. If you're lucky, you may even have to wait two openings until you can cross them. Sensational experience!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Mooie brug, maar niet geheel praktisch. Het duurt eeuwen voor het de brug open is voor het verkeer via de Gouwe (boten, e.d.), en weer terug open voor auto’s, wandelaars & fietsers is. Ook zijn er genoeg ongelukken en storingen geweest, die allemaal totaal onnodig waren. Een viaduct of normale brug had hier beter op zijn plek geweest qua dat.
Buiten dat is het een opvallende brug, en is het wel leuk om te zien. Ook is die in het donker leuk verlicht met blauwe lampjes, zodat die ook zichtbaar is in de avonden, en zelfs van ver af.
Er is zitplek om naar boten te kijken, en er zijn genoeg restaurants in de buurt & ook een ijssalon. Aan te raden is om lopend of met de fiets te komen, parkeren is hier lastig.
Nice bridge, but not entirely practical. It takes centuries before the bridge is open for traffic via the Gouwe (boats, etc.), and open again for cars, walkers and cyclists. There have also been plenty of accidents and breakdowns, all of which were completely unnecessary. A viaduct or normal bridge would have been more appropriate here in that regard.
Other than that it is a striking bridge, and it is nice to see. It is also nicely lit in the dark with blue lights, so that it is also visible in the evenings, and even from far away.
There is seating to watch boats, and plenty of restaurants nearby & also an ice cream parlor. It is recommended to come on foot or by bike, parking is difficult here.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Some nice history about Waddinxveen, it's one of the three famous 'hefbruggen' bridges. Alphen, Boskoop and Waddinxveen. A bridge inspired by mister Eiffel and still in use!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nothing special some local people are proud the bridge but most people hate it for slow opening and closing. Its normal to wait more than 10 minutes for this bridge when it is opened. Most people avoid it if the can. Its a pretty side in summer and nice place to hang and have a drink around in one of the cafees
