★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We ordered a birthday cake from this HEMA and unfortunately, it was a total miss. For our grandchildren's birthday party we wanted to order 2 driple cakes: 1 for 16 and 1 for 24 people which would be enough for 40 invited guests. The idea was to create a double layered cake (as per the advice of the sales person) since they don't sell already double layered cakes in contrary to their advertisement picture. We leave in the west of the country and our children live in this neighborhood. We traveled 2 weeks in advance just to order these cakes and already paid in advance. The day of the pick up, literally a few hours before the party, we were told by HEMA that something went wrong and they don't have the larger cake for 24 people. The reasoning was quite fuzzy and we were not sure what happened. They offered us to pay back the price of that cake and offered us a free classic "slagroom" cake. You can imagine the frustration of our kids and grandchildren. There was no way to find any other decent alternative in the last minute but two go with two separate cakes. The only thing we could do was to thank HEMA for literally ruining our party!
