They were complaining about other customers behind their backs, after they asked for basic things like the menu or ordering drinks. Rather go to one of the other cafés next to this.

Yes, food and Hotel seemed excellent but there was something with the owner? Who never tries never knows so we went for dinner together with my sister and her husband. What a great place and the owner and his wife are excellent hosts. Yes, he is a bit awkward but absolutely fun (almost Basil Fawlty, the owner from the famous BBC Fawlty Towers series). He absolutely has his charm and now also understand why is beautiful wife is standing next to him for 23 years. The day after we went over again now with my brother in law and again enjoyed everything in that place. Shame we do not live closer to Gulpen so we could come over more often but next time we are around we will go for sure. A MUST GO PLACE!
D	Daniel Scheffer on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Spend a night in one of their tastefully refurbished rooms. The staff was very attentive, went out of their way in order to make our stay memorable. The room was modern, very nicely decorated and with a comfortable bed. There is a little kitchen in the hallway for coffee and refreshments, and a little balcony / terrace to enjoy this coffee at. The room was very clean, the water in the shower was hot, very good standard. In the bar / restaurant we were served proper local food, along with the local Gulpener beer from the brewery just down the road. Attentive bar staff, very good overall experience. Would definitely stay again!
