★ ★ ★ ★ ★ There are some very special wargraves on the cemetery next to the church. Buried there are 8 US airmen that crashed with their B17 bomber named 'Man-O-War'. They were on their way back from a bombing raid on July 30th 1943 over the Messerschmidt factory in Kessel Germany when they were gunned down by the German Air force. Of the 10 airmen on the plane, 8 were killed and are still buried at the churchyard.
The headstones differ from the usual stones in Europe but resemble the ones in Arlington National Cemetery. A very special place to visit. A ceremony is held every 4th of May.
