★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Mostly a place of pilgrimage for fans of the 17th century's philosopher. Since I am one of them I enjoyed it very much. I spent most of the time going through the list of books in his possession at the time of his death in The Hague. As objects of interest there are some first editions of his writings in different languages and documents related to Spinoza through the centuries (a letter by David Ben-Gurion tops my list of surprises).
The building itself has been refurbished many times, identified as Spinoza's residence only in the 19th century. Still, for admirers of his life and works it's thrilling to know that the great man was once at home in this place.
The museum is manned by volunteers, in this occasion a very friendly lady was on duty. She let me wander around the house whilst attending to other visitors less familiar with the man who changed Western philosophy for good.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A small but historically significant sight in Rijnsburg. The guide is very passionate and knows a lot about the subject. A lot of famous guests have visited this special house throughout the years from Max Weber to a certain A. Einstein from Berlin.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The house of one of my favorites philosophers of all time combined with a very kind guide, who knows a lot about the subject! Would defenetely recommend to visit this place. If you are from Leiden, and own a bike, the way it is pretty straightforward and beautiful as well. Spinoza is such a fascinating and enigmatic figure, and it is interesting to imagine how he lived.
