Just watch out for phone charges once the ferry sets off and turns on its own mobile cell. It doesn't count as prt of free European roaming and things like Facebook will be running up a bill sharing data in the background before you even realise. TURN ROAMING OFF until you dock, if not your whole phone.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not much around other than the ferry port. If you want food there are some McDonald's about 10 min away which you pass on the way so stock up before you get there.

At least half a dozen British people had to wait 8 hours for the next ferry due to one document not filled out. Not one of us had heard of this document. But that's the way the world is nowadays I guess.
In my case, I didn't know about the form because I used a third party to book my crossing. Lesson learnt.
I'll only use the Hook to Harwich crossing as a second choice in the future
