In 2010 werd een plan geboren: het beginnen van een kleine koffiebar. Een plek waar je lekker kunt "zijn", van de beste koffie kan genieten en waar ook een heerlijke lunch geserveerd wordt. Maar dan wel klein en overzichtelijk, lekker relaxed … dát liep even anders! Gaandeweg het proces popten er allerlei vragen op die beantwoord moesten worden: ‘Met welke koffie gaan we werken? En met welk brood? Welke producten passen bij ons? Alles biologisch? Eén ding stond vast: we wilden in ieder geval dat smaak bepalend zou zijn. Tijdens onze speurtocht naar smaak kregen uiteindelijk bijna alle vragen hetzelfde antwoord: "Dat gaan we zelf doen!". Nadoen bleek niet ons ding, zelf doen wel. Dus kwam er een echte "vloeroven" zoals dat in Frankrijk gebruikelijk is om ons eigen desem brood in te bakken. En een Giesen koffie brander, om de koffiebonen te branden. De rest van de geschiedenis kent iedereen. Bij Hopper wordt weinig aan het toeval overgelaten; als we het zelf maken dan weten we wat er in zit en dan weten we dat het goed is! We zijn uitgegroeid tot een volledig zelfstandig bedrijf, met een tweede filiaal aan het Zwaanshals en een derde in Zeist, waar we ons best doen om iedereen te voorzien van wat ons het meest drijft: Smaak!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ They roast their own coffee and the result is a pleasant, strong yet not bitter espresso. The latte is also good, though I missed the latte art on them.
Edit: the espresso on my last visit was bitter than in the past.
