β β β β β Great experience from the Start until the end of our stay unfortunately just for one night. Super nice rooms, great welcome and very caring staff. It is all very relaxed and made with love to details. We loved the Acqua di Parma amenities as well. The pricing is also more then fair and worth every penny. If you are staying there, try the restaurant Nassau for sure! Looking forward to my next stay at this hide away.

β β β β β We had a great stay, perfect location, easy to walk into town or any sites of interest. The hotel is modern but has an βold vibeβ, they have tried to keep the history alive. Donβt forget to check the garden, itβs very quaint. Unfortunately our hotel room at the top didnβt have water when we wanted to shower, it trickled at first and then just disappeared. Shame that whilst they knew this was an issue, it was played down and we had to ask if it was resolved. The breakfast was good, better than other hotels. The restaurant was decent and tasty.

β β β β β Always very nice and friendly staff. Might be a bit more of an up-tight place, which I think is really nice every now and then. The chef prepares the food really nice with great options on the menu. The wine collection to compliment the food makes this a great place to have a fantastic dinner.

β β β β β Hotel Prinsenhof, Groningen, is a 4-star superior boutique hotel in the city centre of Groningen. Standing in the shadows of the Martini Tower, bordering the walled garden called Prinsentuin, the hotel is situated in one of the cityβs oldest and most beautiful 15th century buildings that began as a home for Brethren of Communal Life, and then became a church.
Location - Situated between Martinkerkhof park and Martinitoren (Martini Tower in a nearby Gothic Church) on side, and the Prinsentium, a renaissance style rose and herb garden with a small tea house on the other, most hotel rooms have a view of one of these beautiful landmarks
Rooms - The boutique hotel has 34 unique modern rooms that are comfortable with splendid views, king beds, nicely equipped mini bars whose contents of wine, beer, and snacks are free for guests (bravo and thank you), Nespresso machine, a wonderful selection of Acqua di Parmi soap, shampoo, body wash and lotion, a rain shower, and luxury sheets and bedding,
In June, we stayed in a superior room (27-30 square meters) and were satisfied with the sloping ceiling with wood beams for our short stay. The view was of the Prinsentium rose garden with a great floral display.
On another occasion, I will choose one of the junior suites that are larger (35-45 square meters), have tall ceilings, and a special feature like a fireplace or canopy bed. I took a look at a few, and, for a complete get-away, these would be my choice.
Covid Special Measures - the hotel staff were observing appropriate public health and safety precautions to reduce Covid risks.
Reception and Hotel Staff - the generally young staff are responsive and polite. I give them high marks for trying to ensure their guests have a restorative stay. While all my comments regarding the staff are positive, the hotel needs to have clearer messages about driving to the hotel for the valet service. When we arrived at the hotel there were street closures that prevented an easy access to the hotel, and the reception was not prepared for this misadventure and took some time to try and provide assistance. However, being alerted to the arrival difficulty, the reception staff were informed about driving instructions from the hotel to the autoroute. The wait staff at the restaurants were all polite and responsive.
Hotel Restaurants - My overview of the restaurants focuses on my goal of having quality food in a pleasant atmosphere.
For this reason, I enjoyed either the Grand Cafe inside the old church or the courtyard. This Cafe has great breakfast with a buffet and a selection of egg dishes made to order, as well, the lunches and dinners are tasty, well prepared and presented, and made of high quality ingredients. There was sufficient food for vegetarians.
The Restaurant Nassau is indeed for special gastronomic experiences and the chef, sommeliers, and wait staff serve special multi-course delights in a lovely part of the hotel overlooking the Prinsentium rose and herb garden. We enjoyed the Restaurant Nassau 5-course Fine Dining Culinary Experience Package and added a fine bottle of wine. The tastes were exquisite and delighted every part of the palate.
For travelers, I would recommend that if you would like a unique gastronomic experience with high quality food, wines and service for a fine dining experience, I would choose the Fine Dining Experience Complete that includes 8 courses including a customized selection of wines for each course. In this way, you will benefit from the extraordinary chef and sous chef, and the talented sommeliers with their wide selection of quality wines.
Overall, I rate this boutique hotel and its restaurants very highly, and I would stay 2 nights on the next occasion in a Junior Suite and choosing to eat at the Grand Cafe inside or in the lovely courtyard.

β β β β β Beautiful hotel. Our room was very comfortable with a lovely bathroom. All the extras were thoughtful and most welcome, free use of the mini bar for example. We did the package that included a 3 course meal...delicious...and a substantial breakfast. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Social distancing and cleanliness were highly maintained without being invasive. We will definitely be back.

β β β β β So I've eaten here a few times. I recommend the bistro, but not the fine dining. The lunch bistro is really nice, food is carefully prepared, the interior is chic and the ambiance outside is especially wonderful during spring. The staff is friendly but often the food takes a long time to arrive... It depends on the day.
The fine dining is ok, but I wouldn't recommend if you are experienced in fine dining as the food comparatively lacks in both creativity and execution.

β β β β β Beautiful room with great view. Very kind and helpful staff, warm welcome at the reception. Nice breakfast. The 8-course dinner in their Nassau restaurant was absolutely fantastic. Light, fresh and surprising tastes and structures. The two young men serving us were very skilled and kind, with fun stories to accompany the excellent wines. Thanks for having us!
