Overall my stay at Hotel Zuiderduin was pleasant; not fantastic, nor terrible. The service was really good. Staff were very professional, courteous and hospitable. The room I was put in was very clean. It was also cleaned daily to an exceptional standard. However, the rooms are very dated and in need of some renovation. It lacked a bar fridge, iron and other amenities like a kettle. The food at the buffet was sub-par. There's not much variety and the food is quite bland. Hot breakfast was poor with only eggs, bacon and sausages; the eggs were tasteless, and the bacon dry and fatty. The hotel has great facilities for leisure; it has a swimming pool, sauna, bar, bowling alley and gym (which only has a few equipment but standard for hotels). It also has great conference facilities.

An enormous hotel that is clearly meant for business conferences, which seems an unlikely destination for such a small town. The architect clearly kept this in mind as "conference" design is everywhere, it's almost funny. Huge halls, it will take you 5 minutes to get from the entrance to your room, or to the sauna, or to the breakfast room. In contrast to this the architect seemed to think it is fine that the rooms are very small, are not air-conditioned and only have windows looking out onto the parking lot. The swimming pool ( a big selling point of the hotel) is absolutely tiny as well - forget doing any laps. The architect's biggest achievement is clearly the breakfast hall - which looks like a 1920's dance hall - which is enormous, two story-high ceilings, and a tiny tiny line for the breakfast buffet. It is the classic plain Dutch breakfast - nothing worth a 4 star hotel. Butter, very poor selection of bread, supermarket bought cheese and overly salty ham and the only vegetables are 2cm slices of tomatoes and cucumbers. Canned fruits only. Of hot meals there were…hot eggs, overcooked omelets, and uncertain fried sausages. The housekeeping is also very unfriendly and slow. They will clean your room very very late (like 4pm), entirely on their own schedule. They don’t change your bed unless you explicitly ask. The beds - being in Holland, land of tall people - were very SHORT (for me, at 168cm), too soft and shaky, and in general were super uncomfortable. You will not get a good night's rest on these. The sauna is good - quite large, and a big selection. It is a mixed sauna however, and all in nude - my daughter who came with me was very uncomfortable. The jacuzzi and swimming pool however (you have to book it separately from the sauna, and you book for an hour) were a huge disappointment. The jacuzzi is as if a baby was blowing bubbles in water with a straw. There’s nothing there other than chlorine. With Covid there was a limited amount allowed in the sauna / jacuzzi / pool at a time (at the same time, no one wore masks AT ALL in the hotel) - however, 10 people maximum in the tiny pool (which is maximum 5m x 4m), and where 8 of those 10 are kids who are jumping into the pool - I was unable to swim at all during our 9 day stay. We complained to staff about this, but they become very passive aggressive and defensive - saying that if we had issues in the sauna, we should leave, climb up to management (wet and cold, coming straight out of the sauna) and complain to them, and maybe they would help. They never did - the kids kept jumping, despite explicit signs jumping is forbidden. To get any fresh air in our room (no air conditioning, it was 33 outside during our stay), I had to keep our balcony door open, facing the parking lot - cars 2 meters away from our faces - and hearing everything : cars, kids, neighbors, and worst of all, the SEAGULLS. There are a lot, obviously it is a beach town, but they concentrate on the hotel because they are fed from the balconies. Noisy, too - we can hear everyone talking in the neighboring rooms, returning back at 2am, kids waking up and screaming (and yes, there are twice as many kids as adults staying). I don’t have any complaints or anything against a single specific person - everyone was the same with us, a cold smile, cold eyes, nothing else. There was only one person in management who was lovely and friendly with us - Kilian - who checked in on our during our stay, asked me if I wanted a doctor when I got sick, helped us with housekeeping. He was super polite, friendly, and one of the bright spots of our stay. Absolutely not recommended as hotel - overpriced, oversold, and we had an absolutely uncomfortable stay. The sauna is good but you can stay in a much cheaper and better hotel nearby and book the sauna externally.

Great for kids and adults. They have a playroom that my little ones enjoyed and a pool and bowling place that we enjoyed. Breakfast buffet is good. Really close to the beach.

Nice hotel which is located 5 minutes walking from the beach. The staff is really friendly and helpful, the rooms are equipped with tv, bathroom amenities and having an own balcony, but no air condition unfortunately. The rooms facing the seaside might be a bit colder than on the other side of the hotel. The hotel has a several sport options, such as squash or bowling, also a bar for those who would like to have a drink. The hotel also operates as a conference centre, where even 450 people can be entertained. Just make sure that you take something warm, as it can be chilly in the meeting rooms :)

Best place to stay during these Corona times also other times. Next to an awesome beach and the dunes. The Irish bar and the bistro was really nice, small menu but delicious food and cheap. The Spa and Sauna was absolutely amazing. Definitely will be back soon.

Most of their facilities were limited and restricted due to covid19. Pool is very small comparing with the size of the hotel. Food is OK. It looks good from outside but not that great when you go in.
