OnderhoudWaar kun je romantischer schaatsen dan op de sprookjesachtig verlichte ijsbaan in het bos van Beetsterzwaag? De mannen van de ijsvereniging "Iisnocht" staan daar garant voor. Als er tenminste ijs is, want dat hebben ze natuurlijk niet in de hand.
Met alle andere noodzakelijkheden heeft de ijsclub al 135 jaar ervaring. Het echte werk begint zo half oktober. Dan wordt er gestart met het oppompen van het waterniveau van het "Witte meer". Dat is de naam van het bosmeer dat beschut in de bossen verscholen ligt, te bereiken via het Hemrikerpaed. Begin november is het meer vol en mag de vorst komen.
Het bestuur staat dan in de startblokken. Zodra het zover is hangen ze de lampjes op, zetten ze de bankjes neer, wordt via diverse kanalen de ijsbaan voor open verklaard en kan de ijspret beginnen.
De vereniging heeft zo'n 800 leden. Als het echt vriest gaan veel mensen buitenuit schaatsen. Maar als 's-avonds de sfeerverlichting brandt komt men in het bos schaatsen en elkaar ontmoeten.
Ice rink Iisnocht
Where can you skate more romantically than on the fairy-tale illuminated ice rink in the forest of Beetsterzwaag? The men of the ice club "Iisnocht" guarantee that. At least if there is ice, because of course they cannot control that.
With all the other necessities, the ice club has 135 years of experience. The real work starts in mid-October. Then the pumping up of the water level of the "White Lake" is started. That is the name of the forest lake that is hidden in the woods, accessible via the Hemrikerpaed. At the beginning of November the lake is full and frost is allowed.
The board is then in the starting blocks. As soon as the time has come, they hang up the lights, put down the benches, the ice rink is declared open via various channels and the ice fun can begin.
The association has about 800 members. When it really freezes, many people go skating outside. But when the mood lighting is on in the evening, people come skating in the forest and meet each other.
